You do know men also have a day right? One that's devoted solely, only to them?! Yes it's true and celebrated on November 19 just in case some of you didn't know.
But even being aware of this fact, it creates so much ambiguity among many women across the globe. They wonder why this day is given a little more weightage than the others and this day is the International Women's Day that I'm talking about.
As we all know it is celebrated on March 8 and it seems to get bigger and bigger with every year that goes by.
It first emerged from the activities of various labour movements at the turn of the 20th century in North America and across Europe where women working in clothes and textile factories staged a protest.
This year marks the 106th year since it first started and I must point out that we have come such an awful long way since then.
Social media definitely has made the world look smaller but in a world like ours today, I think it is a superb initiative taken forward as many women around the world still feel that they are oppressed every second of their lives by the so called "high class modernized" societies they live in. So many women are exploited, traumatized and what not..so it is extremely important to bring to the attention of these very such women that we are all in this together and that there is some scope for a difference.
A difference that will change our lives forever. And before we know it, we will be free from those scoundrels who haunt us night and day.
This day should not be a reminder of how people see us, but should be a celebration where we can prove to the world what we are and what we can be!
We may look like a minority group from the outside but there is absolutely no force in this universe that can stop us from doing what our heart tells us to do.
As a matter of fact, the theme this year is "Inspiring Change".
What can we do in making this world a better and safer place to live in? Being free from all kinds of atrocities and worldly troubles.
Its very easy for us to think of ways to solve our problems but putting them into action, that's something that takes a whole lot of time and guts.
Women should stop being treated as mere objects and that can only happen when we start standing up for ourselves.
It is such a great occasion to also applaud and appreciate all those wonderful women who have showcased their marvelous talents by accomplishing great things in various spheres of life and continuing to make incredible progress.
Talking about women of the 18th and 19th centuries..
Oh yes, we have definitely been transformed today.
Look around and you will see how the women of today have so much strength, willpower and determination. They do not feel any less inferior than the male clan.
And men watch out....
Never underestimate the power of a woman. She can do things you could never have imagined before.
Therefore, it is indeed great to see us moving forward in these times.
Well coming back to the whole essence of this day, I just have one thing to say. Enjoy it to the fullest!
Whether you decide to take the day off at the spa or eat a cupcake or even walk in protest with red lipstick on the streets, it doesn't matter!!! Just do something that makes you feel good. You deserve it!
And always remember that we play an equally important role in building the future, whether the rest of the world accepts it or not.
With that said, I am undoubtedly thrilled to say that I am a proud woman standing today, with my head held high, not wanting to trade anything to be a man and so should the rest of you!
